Rabbits!

This is my free write post about rabbits! Rabbits are fluffy small mammals that can have up to 12 babies a litter! Rabbits cannot be bathed because they will go into shock and will sadly die. Rabbits like to eat carrots (just like in the cartoons), timothy hay, broccoli, strawberries, roman lettuce, and the food they love the most, bananas.

Foods that rabbits cannot eat are iceberg lettuce, rhubarb, avocado, and obviously pretty much any other human food. Rabbits do not like to be touched on their feet, near the bum, tail, and chin. Rabbits love to be pet on their head, behind their ears, and on their face. If or when a female rabbit get to a certain age, they will start to grow a flappy and fluffy patch of skin on their chest.  This fatty skin is called a Dewlap. Dewlaps are meant to produce extra fur. Dewlaps on females are meant for the rabbit to pull on the fur off the dewlap to make a nest. The nests are meant for keeping baby bunnies warm  and comfy but sometimes they make nests for themselves! Rabbits dewlaps vary from each rabbit. You can view the picture bellow!

When rabbits become sexually mature, they will run around in circles around you. They are  basically saying , ” Hey, I’m feeling some weird hormones right now and I want a boyfriend/girlfriend.” If you do not want your female rabbit to have babies and want them to stop running around you, you should get them spayed at the vet. Spaying is a surgery were your female rabbit can not reproduce. There are many great side affects for having your rabbit spayed including very less chance to get cancer and many other diseases. If you have a male rabbit, they cannot get spayed but can get neutered. A neutered male rabbit also has the same side affects!

Thank you for reading this post and I hope you enjoyed it! I also hope you learned a little bit more about rabbits! All of this information (besides the pictures) was by me either by my experience or by past research.

Here’s one last baby bunny before you leave!
